Surfer Updates:

Math- We are starting Unit 4 in Math, working on Time on the clock and measuring with

the metric system.  I am also quizzing students on Multiplication with the 2’s, 3’s

and 4’s facts. I give them 3 minutes to solve 30 math facts. If they miss 2 or less, they can

move up to the next level. If they miss more than 2, they need to practice those facts and try again.

Once they pass, they get a certificate and move on to the next level. This is not on the report card,

it is just another way to have students learn their math facts.  Please continue working with

your children at home on Multiplication using flash cards or xtramath.com.

Language Arts: We are reading fiction and non-fiction books about where people live in different

climates around the world.  In writing, we are working on our next unit of informational writing,

which is researching Holidays.

Reading Counts: Congratulations to these students for reaching the 100 point club!

Ryan Clark, Jesse Higgins and Angelina Garcia! Students can only take quizzes here in class,

but they have a couple of different times during the day when they take the quizzes.  

My goal is for everyone to get 50 points or more by the end of the year so we can earn our

Reading Counts carnival!

Homework Log: Continue Reading for 20-30 minutes each day.  Also, please make sure your

children are checking their work on the reading comprehension pages that are being sent home

weekly.  This is great test-prep practice for them. If you have any questions, please let me know!

College and Career Month: Please let me know if you would like to come in and share

about your college or career with our students! It would take about 20-30 minutes to

present and have questions/answers.  Please email me and we can book a time for you

to come in!

Actualizaciones Surfista:

Matemáticas- Estamos a partir de matematicas unidad 4, trabajando el tiempo en el reloj y con

el sistema métrico de medición.  También estoy cuestionando los estudiantes en Multiplicación con

los hechos de 2, 3 y 4. Les doy 3 minutos para resolver 30 hechos.  Si faltan menos de 2, pueden

seguir a siguiente nivel. Si faltan más de dos necesitan practicar los hechos y intentarlo otra vez.

Una vez que pasen, recibirán un certificado y pasar al siguiente nivel. No se trata de la tarjeta

de informe, es solo otra manera de que los estudiantes aprenden sus matemáticas. Por favor

seguir trabajando con sus hijos en casa en multiplicación usando tarjetas flash o xtramath.com.

Artes de Lenguaje: Estamos leyendos libros de ficción acerca de donde vive la gente en

diferentes climas alrededor del mundo. En la escritura, estamos trabajando en nuestra siguiente

unidad de la escritura informativa, que es vacaciones.

Lectura Cuenta: Felicitaciones a estos estudiantes para llegar al club 100 puntos!

aquí en clase, pero tienen diferente tiempos durante el día cuando toman los cuestionarios. Mi meta

es para que todos puedan obtener 50 puntos o más al final del año por lo que podemos ganar

Tarea: Continuar leyendo por 20-30 minutos cada día.  También, por favor asegurarse de que sus

hijos están comprobando su trabajo en la comprensión de lectura, inicio de páginas que se envían

semanalmente. Esto es gran prueba de preparación práctica para ellos. Si tiene alguna pregunta,

Surfer Updates:

Math- We are continuing to work on Unit 3 in Math, working on rounding numbers and

adding and subtracting two and three digit numbers.  Please continue working with your

children at home on Multiplication using flash cards or xtramath.com.

Language Arts: We are reading fiction and non-fiction books about where people live in

different climates around the world.  In writing, we are wrapping up our unit in

summarizing informational articles (non-fiction). We will be working on our next unit

of informational writing.  

Technology: Students are continuing to work on coding, and learning about how to write

on Google docs.  Students are mastering their keyboarding skills on Typing Training.

Winter Fun: Thank you to everyone who stopped by our tree in the Town Green! It was

fun to participate in this fun holiday tradition! Also, thank you everyone who brought in socks

for our sock exchange. The children had fun choosing a small gift from their classmates and

opening it.  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break, and were able to spend time with

family and friends!

Actualizaciones Surfista:

el redondeo de números  sumar y restar números de dos y tres dígitos. Por favor continuar

trabajar en casa con su hijo usando cartas flash o xtramath.com.

Artes de Lenguaje: Estamos leyendo libros de ficción y no ficción acerca de donde la

gente en diferentes climas alrededor del mundo.  En escritura estamos terminando nuestra

unidad resumiendo artículos informativos (no-ficción). Trabajamos en nuestra siguiente

unidad de la escritura informativa.

Tecnología: Los estudiantes continúan trabajando en codificación y aprender sobre como

escribir en Google Docs. Los estudiantes están dominando sus habilidades de teclado en

escribir.

Diversión de invierno: Gracias a todos que pasaron a ver nuestro árbol en el Town Green!

Fue muy divertido participar en esta divertida tradición de vacaciones! También, muchas gracias

a todos los que trajeron calcetines para nuestro intercambio de calcetín. Los niños se divirtieron

elegir un pequeño regalo de sus compañeros de clase y abrirlos..  Espero que todos tuvieron

unas vacaciones maravillosas y fueron capaces de pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos!

Surfer Updates:

Language Arts: We are reading a chapter book called A Year with Ms. Agnes.  It takes

place in an Alaskan village in the 1940’s.  In writing, we are focusing on summarizing

informational articles (non-fiction).

Technology: Students are working on the Hour of Code in computer lab.  We are also

working on Google Docs in our classroom. I have attached directions on how to log in

to Google Docs, Google Classroom and Readworks so students can access these at home.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or if something isn’t working for you.

Winter Fun: Our class has a Charlie Brown tree in the Town Green!  Stop by, it’s to the

right of the Snoopy Dog House if you are facing the town green!

Winter Performance: Save the date for Monday, December 17th at 9:00 a.m.

in the MPR.  Students wear a white top/blouse and black bottoms (pants/skirt).

Bring your cameras and get ready for some beautiful music!

Canned Food Drive: Thank you to the students who brought in canned

food! So generous!  

How to log students in to Google Docs:

1. Open a Chrome Browser or go to Google.com
2. Enter the student’s email as their lexia login @stu.wusd.org, Password: wolfcubs
3. Click on the “Waffle” in the top right corner.
4. Have students click on the Google Docs.
5. Students will be able to access the poem they wrote in the computer lab.

For students to log into Google Classroom:

1. Open a Chrome Browser or go to Google.com
2. Enter the student’s email as their lexia login @stu.wusd.org, Password: wolfcubs
3. Click on the “Waffle” in the top right corner.
4. Click on the green chalkboard.
5. Click on Miroballi 18-19.
6. Enter the Class Code: zfrqcol

For students to access Readworks from Google Classroom:

     1. Open a Chrome Browser or go to Google.com

     2. Enter the student’s email as their lexia login @stu.wusd.org, Password: wolfcubs

3. Students can access code.org, Lexia, Typing Training, etc.
4. Please do not have them use iReady.

Polar Express Party

When:  Thursday, December 20th from 9:00-11:30 a.m.

Where:  Room 19 Mrs. Miroballi’s Class

What to Wear:  Pajamas with tennis shoes. Please, no slippers or robes!

What to Bring:  One wrapped pair of socks for our sock exchange. Label it

“boy” for a boy or “girl” for a girl.  Also, bring one stuffed animal to

cuddle with.

We will drink hot chocolate and eat candy canes while we watch

Matemáticas- Iniciamos la unidad 3 en matemáticas  trabajando en el redondeo de los

Ocurre en un pueblo en  Alaska en los 1940’s. En escritura, nos estamos centrando en

resumir artículos informativos (no-ficción).

Tecnología: Los estudiantes están trabajando en la hora de código en laboratorio de

computación. También estamos trabajando en Google Docs en nuestro salón.
